The Trust for Civil Society in Central & Eastern Europe announces the award of a grant of 86 828 USD to the Open Society Foundation (OSF)
and a grant of 100 000 USD to the Pontis Foundation
The one-year grant to the Open Society Foundation
(in partnership with the Slovak Donors Forum) is aimed to re-launch the debate on the future of the NGOs; their financing and environment they operate in around new topic of the public benefit. The entire process shall be driven by a steering committee formed from representatives of NGO platforms in an inclusive way. Importantly, the project also has a regional component aiming to reach out to NGOs from beyond the capital and major cities.
The grant to the Pontis Foundation
is to increase the funding in existing NGO Loan Fund operated by the Pontis Foundation. The Loan Fund was created to provide loans to NGOs, which have otherwise very limited opportunities of receiving loans. Beyond direct financial impact, the Loan Fund program also aims to encourage cooperation among NGOs, and with local business and banking sector. The longer-term strategic goal is to help NGOs in developing their own financial capabilities that will enable them to achieve more financial independence in the future.
