The Children of Slovakia Foundation organized for the forth time the Children´s Hour public Collection, which yielded 9.111,338 SKK (approx. 236,000 USD). More than 144 000 people participated in the collection. About 53 percent of collected money was raised from employees through payroll deduction, the rest came through ATM, SMS messages, phone calls and internet donations.
Objective of the Children´s Hour project is to raise public awareness on children and youth issues in Slovakia, strengthen tradition of individual philanthropy in Slovakia and raise funding for projects aimed at support of children.
More than 4,8 million SKK was collected through bank transfers, 1,5 million SKK through SMS messages and another 1,5 million SKK through phone calls. In four years of the public collection campaign, the Children of Slovakia Foundation raised a total of almost 47 million SKK (1,22 million USD) and thus became one of the most successful fundraisers from individual donors in Central and Eastern Europe.
Children of Slovakia Foundation, together with the Open Society Foundation and Jan Hus Educational Foundation form one of two Slovak Trust Partner Consortia.
