| Project Description | a) Goal and objectives The project aims at promoting queer art in CEE region as a socially committed art, which counters homo- and trans-phobia, and helps to pluralize and liberalize civil societies in CEE. The objectives are: 1. To display and popularize queer art in CEE through the festival “Queer Art in CEE: Between Culture and Activism” in Sofia, Bulgaria, on December 1-4, 2009. 2. To bring together queer artists/activists from CEE countries and form a platform for future collaboration among them. 3. To enhance politically correct speaking of LGBT issues in the mass media. 4. To analyze the impact of queer art on mainstream societies in CEE. b) Activities • Organizing and carrying out of a queer art festival in Sofia, Bulgaria on December 1-4, 2009 with the participation of about 20 visiting artists/activists from CEE countries. • Popularization of the festival and media coverage. An open debate on queer art in CEE and half-day seminar on politically correct speaking about LGBT issues for journalists. |
